December 2007

Several members of the Alpha Omicron Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Phi received recognition at the National ESP Conference in Charlestown, South Carolina. With four national awards being presented, Christy Bartley was a national winner in the Mid-career category, Dwane Miller received national Early Career recognition, the Diversity Team of Jan Scholl, Patrice Ingram, Gretl Collins, and Howard Neurenberger represented the Northeast Region for the Team Award, and Tom Weber received the Richard Angus Scholarship for Professional Development.

In addition, the Chapter awarded its Diversity Recognition Award to a team of Penn State Cooperative Extension educators for presenting a workshop, "Extension Reaching Out to Multicultural Programs: At Home and Abroad," in four locations throughout the state in 2006. The team of educators include York County Extension Educator Roxanne Price, Director of International Programs Deanna Behring, Allegheny County Senior Extension Educator Nancy Crago, Montgomery County Senior Extension Educator Nancy Kadwill, Interim Capital Region Director Leon Ressler, and Beaver County Extension Educator Mary Alice Gettings. Penn State Extension specialists and personnel, county extension educators, and nonuniversity speakers were utilized to provide an educational experience that included breakout sessions, panel discussions, and group activities. A certificate was presented at the chapter's annual banquet and the team's submission will be included in the society's national competition.
