PA Association of County Agricultural Agents members recognized for 2007
December 2007

 

The Pennsylvania Association of County Agricultural Agents (PACAA) announced the members who were recognized and awarded for their excellence during the 2007 program year.

Recipients of the Distinguished Service Award are Tim Elkner and Bob Pollock, and Stan McKee is recipient of the Achievement Award. Les Firth is receipient of the NACAA Hall of Fame Award, and it is only the seond time for PACAA to win this national award. All of these are National award winners.

Communication 1st place Award winners included Susan Boser, for her entry in Radio category, which was also a National Finalist; Tom Butzler, for his entry in Published Photo, which was also a Regional Finalist; Kevin Fry, for his entry in the Slide/Graphics category, which was also a Regional Finalist; John Berry, for his entry in the Direct Mail Piece category, which was also a National Finalist; Melanie Barkley, for her entry in the Personal Column, which was a Regional Finalist; Melanie Barkley, for her entry in the Feature Story category; Susan Alexander, for her entry in the Individual Newsletter category, which was also a Regional Finalist, John Berry, for his entry in the Team Newsletter, which was a Regional Finalist; Tom Butzler, for his entry in the Video/TV category, which was also the National Winner; Melanie Barkley, for her entry in the Fact Sheet category; Karen Vines, for her entry in the Publication category; Greg Martin, for his entry in the Web Page category, which was also a Regional Finalist; John Berry, for his entry in the Learning Module category, which was also a Regional Finalist, and Dwane Miller for his entry in the Bound Book category. 

In the Search for Excellence categories, 1st Place State winners included Carol Schurman for 4-H and Youth Programming; Paul Craig for Crop Production, which was also National Winner; and Dwane Miller for Young Farm and Ranch.

For Professoinal Excellence, agents who were selected to present posters at the NACAA AMPIC meeting were team members Ken Balliet, Tom Murphy, and Earle Robbins. They presented on the topic, "Gas Leasing."

The 2007 Honorary County Agent is James Diamond. Dr. Diamond was nominated by the Southeast Region.

Congratulations also goes out to Dwane Miller as the 2007 William Kelly Scholarship recipient. Dwane has been pursuing a Mastaers Degree in Agronomy.
